Ghosted helps you see who unfollowed you on Instagram. It works in two ways:
In both cases, all processing happens locally in your browser. Your data never leaves your device.
Payment information: When you purchase an unlock code (€2.99), payment is processed by Stripe. We receive a transaction ID to verify your purchase. We do not see or store your card number, billing address, or other payment details — Stripe handles that entirely.
Contact form messages: If you use the feedback form, your message and selected category are sent to us via email. The name and email fields are optional. If you choose to provide an email, it is used solely to reply to you — it is never shared, sold, added to a marketing list, or linked to any Instagram data. We do not store contact details in a database; they simply arrive in our inbox.
Export reminder email: If you opt in to the "remind me to come back and finish" prompt, the email address you enter is used solely to schedule up to two reminder emails (sent via Resend) prompting you to return and complete your scan. It is never shared, sold, added to a marketing list, or linked to any Instagram data, and we do not store it in a database — it lives only in the scheduled email until those reminders are sent.
Analytics: We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the website (page views, button clicks). This does not include any Instagram data. You can opt out using a browser ad blocker.
The Ghosted Chrome extension requests only two permissions:
The extension only runs on instagram.com. It cannot access any other website.
When you click "Scan," the extension reads your follower and following lists from your Instagram profile page. It does this by accessing the same data Instagram shows you when you open your followers or following list. The extension automates the scrolling and collects the usernames locally.
No data is sent to Ghosted's servers or any third party. The comparison is done entirely in your browser, and results are stored locally in the extension's storage.
Ghosted stores the following data locally in your browser:
This data is stored using your browser's built-in storage mechanisms (chrome.storage.local for the extension, localStorage for the web app). It stays on your device and is never transmitted.
Ghosted is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
If we update this policy, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top. Continued use of Ghosted after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
